Now, let’s read vs 17-19 one more time.
“May his name endure forever, his fame continue as long as the sun! May people be blessed in him, all nations call him blessed! Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, who alone does wondrous things. Blessed be his glorious name forever; may the whole earth be filled with his glory! Amen and Amen!”
This Psalm was a prayer for Solomon. A bold prayer that he might rule justly and righteously “as long as the moon, throughout all generations.” But these last few verses we just read again aren’t focused on Solomon anymore. And yet they tie everything together. Isn’t the whole Psalm up until this point praying for the whole earth to be filled with God’s glory? That God’s glory would be revealed through Solomon and all the kings after him?
When Jesus came to earth, he fulfilled this prayer - revealing God’s glory throughout the gospels. And what a gift it is to be able to experience God’s glory here and now while we expectantly wait for Jesus to return.
Love you guys!
